In this phase, Helly Hansen specify materials and constructions dictating the footprint upstream in the supply chain, but also the footprint at end-of-use for the product, which doesn’t have to be end-of-life for the material. By, for example, constructing the garment in one material, they are making it a more valuable resource in a circular system and are enabling textile-to-textile recycling. At Helly Hansen, 55% of our fibers in textiles and nonwovens are comprised of polyester raw materials. We aim for at least 50% of our polyester and polyamide fibers to be recycled by 2025. Almost all of their nonwoven insulations contain 80% post-consumer recycled polyester. Helly Hansen also have managed to replace around 70% of our fleece fabrics with recycled content. They are steadily increasing the volume of recycled materials every season, in line with recycled polyester becoming more accessible.
