The Kånken rucksack was first introduced in 1978 to help prevent back problems among Swedish school children and quickly became a common sight at preschools and nature schools throughout the country. Today, the iconic backpack has straightened millions of backs across the globe and has become one of Fjällräven's most beloved products. With a zipper that opens the entire main compartment and a smaller front pocket the Kanken is constructed from a very hardwearing vinylon fabric. Chest - Measure around the fullest part of your chest, keeping the measuring tape horizontal and not too tight or too loose.

The Fjällräven Kånken was launched in 1978 to spare the backs of school children. Back problems had begun to appear in increasingly younger age groups and shoulder bags were popular. Kånken has many simple, clear functions. The backpack soon became a common sight at pre-schools and nature schools around the country. The idea of using a backpack quickly spread, as did Kånken. It is just as popular today, and an excellent choice for school, outings or biking to work. Kånken is made out of durable, lightweight Vinylon F. The large main compartment with a large opening makes it easy to put in/take out items. Two side pockets and a zippered pocket in the front. Handle at the top, narrow, supple shoulder straps, sitting pad in the pocket in the back and logo that doubles as a reflector.

Vynylon F is the original Kanken material and has proven it's durability over the decades. In addition to its longevity Vynilon F is water resistant without using any PFC based water repellents. Even though it is a synthetic fibre it acts much like a natural fiber and swells up when it gets damp. This tightens the weave and provides water resistance.

Sustainability

At Fjallraven no decision is taken lightly. When considering a material Fjallraven will evaluate its efficiency, functional qualities, chemical composition and the amount they’ll need before making a choice. Fjallraven use a Preferred Materials And Fibres List that grades materials in terms of their impact on the environment. And this list is constantly updated, reflecting new research and new materials. In 2012 Fjallraven decided to switch to fluorocarbon-free impregnation throughout its full product range.

Nordic Outdoor offer a standard UK Mainland delivery using a fully trackable DPD service which arrives within 3-5 working days and offers email and SMS updates. This service is Free for all orders over £80 (Excluding the Highlands & Islands) and is £3.95 for orders under £80.

If you require your order quicker we offer a fully trackable Next Working Day Service which offers email and SMS updates. This service is available for £3.95 for orders over £80 and £7.95 for orders under £80. Please note that to qualify for Next Working Day Delivery your order must be placed by 11am Monday-Friday. The Next Day Premium Service is available only to the UK Mainland and excludes orders placed to the Highlands and Islands.

Orders placed to the Scottish Highland and Islands and UK postcodes which are not considered ‘Mainland UK’ will be subject to a postage surcharge, these prices will displayed at checkout.

Returns

If you decide the item you order is unsuitable then we are happy to offer an exchange or refund on unused items.
