What started as a pipe-dream during a mosquito infested and cramped kayaking trip in Lapland more than 30 years ago, Tentipi is now a highly regarded camping option for escaping into the wilderness for many people around the world. Not only because of the amount of ground space that a tipi naturally provides, but also because of the innovative fabrics used to construct each product.
The brand now launches their latest Safir Eco tent for Spring 2022, complete with a new innovative and sustainable fabric, which is made from a unique blend of organic cotton, recycled polyester and hemp, which is one of the strongest natural fibres found in nature.
"Hemp, has the same properties as cotton when it comes to breathability and moisture regulation, but uses much less water during the production process, resulting in a lower carbon footprint, which is a very important element to this new Eco product,” say Tentipi.
From the performance of the canvas in the most extreme conditions, through to the ventilation benefits and general camping ambience, the Safir Eco by Tentipi ticks the box for the those who love and appreciate nature and want to be at one with their surroundings in the safest and most natural of ways. From expeditions, to demanding hikes and other outdoor pursuits, the Safir Eco offers a world-class option combining ingenious detailing with unrivalled quality.
Designed to withstand extreme conditions from stormy winds through to glaciers and even the burning hot sun, the Safir Eco provides outstanding comfort and is exceptionally easy to use.
For Tentipi ‘Eco’ means responsibility, which is why the decision not to dye the canvas has been taken, keeping the natural off-white colour, thus zero harmful bleaching or fabric dye being used, which reduces the carbon footprint even further.
What is the difference between Safir 7 & Safir 7 Eco?
The new version of the Tentipi Safir 7 takes all of the best parts from the original and simply recreates these in the new, more sustainable fabric. The Safir 7 eco retains the same footprint which offers a roomy internal space of 10.5m² and enough room to comfortably stand thanks to the height of 2.7m.
Designed for the wilderness the Safir 7 can be used with an internal open fire thanks to the double piece ventilator cap with six opening points and the three air intakes at the bottom edge to help provide a natural draw to pull smoke out of the tent. If open fires are a little too wild for your liking then you can use the eldfell stove within the Tentipi to create a hot tent environment perfect for those chilly nights at basecamp.
While all of the core features which make the Tentipi Safir 7 such an incredible option for any camping adventure there is one obvious difference when looking at the new eco version – the colour. To improve the eco credentials of the Safir 7 Eco even further the fabric has remained undyed which results in the natural off-white colour remaining and showcasing the tents environmental prowess even from a distance.
