It’s that time of year again. The evenings are getting shorter and there's a chill in the air. It’s a time for snug fires, good books and sunday roasts!

But once that last roast potato has been finished, you might look for a way to work off those extra helpings. What better way is there than to get the walking boots on and head out into the great outdoors?
The focus of this blog will be 4 fantastic outdoor walks in the area around Glasgow that you can take this winter.

Kelvingrove Park

This amazing park has something for everyone. The stunning paths mean that you can take in wonderful winter vistas without the need for hiking boots or hardcore equipment. As you walk you will see many magnificent buildings along the banks of the River Kelvin.
Once you’re tired out, take some time to pay a visit to the world renowned Kelvingrove Museum and Art galleries. This is truly a location that’s certain to keep every member of the family.

Queen’s Park Glasgow

Located in the heart of the hustle and bustle of the city, this park is the perfect place to go to get away from the rat race for a quick stroll. Besides its boating pond and victorian landscaping, you can take the time to enjoy any wildlife you might see out and about on a cold winter afternoon.

On top of the hill on which the park is built you will be treated to a world class view of Glasgow city itself.

Pollok Park

Glasgows largest park has a lot to offer any rambler looking to burn off the christmas dinner. In this park you can find a fairy garden, plenty of woodland and you even have the possibility of spotting one of the parks deer herds.

For those who can’t hack the cold for long there are facilities where you can stop for a quick cup of tea or a bite to eat.

Clyde Walkway

Ok so this walk does come in at over 40 miles long. Therefore it is pretty unlikely that you’ll want to walk the whole thing in one go (no matter how guilty you feel about that third helping…)

Despite this it stands out as one of the more beautiful walks in and around the city. All along the walk you will be treated to all the joys of walking beside rivers. An abundance of wildlife populates this walkway, so even in winter you’ll get a chance to do some nature watching.

Whether you like urban, rural or nature walks this stretch of walkway has something for any walker.
